9 Things You Should Know About Boracay

Boracay is a funny one. A classic case of British marmite – you’ll either love it or hate it. This once idyllic island located in the centre of the Philippines has become so popular over the years, that tourism and development have truly over ruled what was once a middle-of-nowhere piece of paradise. With high end resort style hotels, fast food joints, as well as an abundance of bars and clubs, it’s clear to see why the island receives such mixed reviews. I travelled for three weeks within the Philippines and couldn’t help but feel that I was missing out […]

The Bacuit Archipelago, Palawan

Often referred to as the gateway to the Bacuit Archipelago, El Nido sits between towering limestone cliffs that lead out to a spectacular hidden jewel within northern Palawan. This is once spot on the map that should be on everyone’s Philippino bucket list! We’ve all seen the film ‘The Beach’ right? Whilst (most of us) know that Koh Phi Phi in Thailand was used as the film location, many still insist that it was actually El Nido that inspired Alex Garland to write his book. This sleepy backpacker town of El Nido is the best place to base yourself whilst […]

The Quickest Way To Reach El Nido

El Nido is without a doubt one of the Philippine’s highlights and if you have the chance to visit, you’ll understand why. Despite being one of the country’s key destinations, it doesn’t mean reaching El Nido is simple. The small town does have a local airport (Lio Airport), however only one or two airlines fly directly into Lio, making El Nido a surprisingly difficult place to reach. Most visitors will fly into Palawan’s main airport, Puerto Princesa, and then take an overland transfer north to El Nido. The good news is that internal flights are affordable, depart regularly, and are […]

El Nido: Photo Journal

Hidden lagoons, secret beaches, and hundreds of islets await you in Palawan’s Bacuit Archipelago in the Philippines. The best way to explore the area is by taking one of the many boat trips that depart daily from El Nido. Each day trip will take you along a slightly different route, and we decided to take two different trips to ensure we made the most of our time in El Nido. Day trips usually start early around 09:00, include a few stops at different islands along with a beach BBQ and snorkelling opportunities. Boats return back to El Nido’s shores around […]

My Instagram 7 Day Beach Photo Challenge

In case anyone isn’t on Instagram (how is that possible?), or doesn’t follow my Instagram account yet (please add me – I need to get my followers up!), I wanted to share a challenge I set myself last week. For a little bit of fun, I thought I’d set myself a week long challenge on Instagram with only one rule – each day I was to upload a photo of a different beach I had visited. My aim was to collate a short collection of snaps to share some of my favourite memories with you. All photos are my own images and […]

Picture Perfect Boracay

Famous for it’s incredible white beaches and picture perfect sunsets, Boracay will be a destination that you’ll absolutely love, or for many, absolutely hate. I travelled for three weeks within the Philippines and was keen to find out for myself what the fuss was about. Most visitors will find themselves staying on the Islands’ infamously stunning White Beach – a 4km stretch of powdery white sand, turquoise waters and shady palm trees. The gentle waters are perfect for swimming & snorkelling. There is a traffic free pedestrian path that runs adjacent to the beach. And you’ll find an abundance of […]
