Candyland Studios | A Woodland Retreat

I get a real buzz about staying somewhere special. Fancy Hotels might offer luxury that the majority of us aren’t used too, but what I really love is something unique and different. That’s what makes a stay special to me. Let me set the scene. Deep in heart of Devon, near enough to civilisation but far enough away to feel isolated with no preying eyes. A unique cabin made from local natural resources, designed by two creative individuals who definitely left their stamp on the cabin. This my friends, is Candyland Studios. To celebrate a good friend’s birthday (shout out […]

London’s Unmissable Festival

This week we’ve FINALLY seen some sunshine, which can only mean one thing – spring is on it’s way! Before we know it, summer will be upon us, as will this year’s House Festival. Hurrah! London hosts a zillion summer festivals each year, but there’s nothing quite like this one. I’ve been for the past 5 years now and I genuinely love it and get just as excited as each year comes around! What Is The House Festival? The House Festival is hosted by London’s exclusive members club Soho House. Each year, roughly 5,000 people gather together for an awesome […]

Off-Road Driving With Kankku!

With a slogan of ‘Drive. Discover. Adventure’, I was signed up to Kankku’s 4×4 off-road driving experience immediately! Based in Windermere, in the Lake District, this is an awesome activity to get involved with. During a weekend away with some of my girlfriends, one of the girls had heard of the company before, so suggested we sign ourselves up. The five of us were all over this like someone had announced that Ryan Gosling had entered the room – and we couldn’t wait! Experiences And Costs There are two types of driving experiences available to book, either a Safari drive […]

Magic Lantern Festival 2017

Magic Lantern Festival

The Magic Lantern Festival is a collection of Chinese lanterns, and is held annually around the same time as the Chinese New Year. The festival is held in multiple locations across the UK (including London, Birmingham, Yorkshire, Manchester, and Scotland), and ran for five weeks from the 24th Nov 2017 until 1st Jan 2018. Although I have visited the festival a few years back, I thought I’d pop along to the recent Christmas themed lantern exhibit. Held at Chiswick House and Gardens, the festival displayed a collection of luministic art by numerous different artists. There was a heap of different […]

Paradise Wildlife Park

Paradise Wildlife Park

My close friends will already know how much I love animals (mainly the furry ones, not the reptiles so much), so this weekend Adam and I visited the Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. I stumbled across the park a few months ago, and have wanted to visit ever since. So off we went! Tickets cost £15.95 per adult / £14.30 per child, but you can save 10% by booking online in advance. Make sure you tick the gift aid box too to ensure the park can reclaim 25p tax for every £1 spent! Once through the Welcome Centre, you’ll […]

Zip World: Fforest Coaster

A few months ago Adam and I visited Wales for a long weekend of fun. We hiked Mount Snowden, and we zipped across the Welsh caverns on a zipline. To complete our action-packed weekend in Wales, we also headed over to Zip Worlds latest activity – The Fforest Coaster – to see what this new ride was all about! After a bit of a kerfuffle in trying to locate the site (don’t follow the sat nav as the GPS location isn’t correct!), we made it just in time to join in the fun. The Fforest Coaster is designed with the traditional […]

Zip World: Titan Zipline Adventure

As soon as we booked our weekend away in Wales, we knew we’d be booking one of Zip World’s zipline adventures! There are three main zip line activities to choose from – The Caverns, Titan, and Velocity. In The Caverns you’ll zip through a series of wires that take you through a cave like system. The Titan sees you hoisted above the slate caverns in a series of three separate outdoor runs. And then there’s The Velocity wire – the fastest zipline in the world, and longest in Europe – that will catapult you up to speeds of 100mph! We chose to […]

2017, Another Great Year Of Travel

With Christmas been and gone, and 2017 all wrapped up – this means one thing for me. It’s time to reinstate my favourite New Year’s resolution. Once stolen from a friend, this New Year’s resolution is to try and visit at least three new countries per year.  And in 2017 I’ve done exactly that by visiting Vietnam, Wales, and Budapest. Hurrah. A full three out of three achieved for 2017! I think this is a great New Year’s resolution for anyone, and more people should take it up. Time and money are probably no doubt the biggest factors that hold […]

12 Things To Do On A Rainy Day In London

Typically as I start to write this post the sun is seeping in through the curtains, however it has been one horrible week full of rain and muddy puddles. As I’ve been thinking about the weekend and what plans we can make to keep ourselves busy, it’s made me think about some fun places I’ve seen and been to in London. Have a read for some suggestions of things to do next time it’s raining outside. Hopefully there will be something of interest to you below! 1 | Museums Bit of an obvious choice to start with, but let’s face […]

Go Banana’s At Trentham Monkey Forest

Most of you already know how much I love animals – big, small, furry – so it should come as no surprise that we made a slight detour on our way back from Wales, to visit to the Monkey Forest! It was only a slight detour, and would break up our long drive back to London, so off we went! Tickets cost us £8.50 per adult (£6.50 per child), and if you are driving, then you’ll be able to park in the large on site car park. Click here for more info on Trentham Monkey Forest. Monkey Time Located in Staffordshire, […]

Discovering Dogs In London

Calling all dog lovers!! This is a post you should most definitely read! A few weeks ago, Adam booked me tickets for a surprise day out. After some probing, the only information I got out of him was that it involved animals and I might get to pet them. This definitely sounded like a great day out, but where were we going? After numerous discussions with friends, I finally worked it out. We were going to the Discover Dogs Exhibition in London’s ExCel Centre, and I was going to meet more dogs than I could ever dream of!! Now to […]

Feast On The Farm

The Chiltern Hills, often referred to as just ‘The Chilterns’, is a countryside area just outside of London that cover 324 square miles of beautiful scenery, quaint markets towns and picturesque English villages. Having just moved out of London a few months ago, I’m loving that we have so much on our doorstep. This weekend Laura and Michelle were visiting, so we headed out to The Chilterns to visit The Feast On The Farm, a local food and drink festival at Peterley Manor Farm. Offering a number of food stands, local produce for purchase, workshops, and stage presentations, the festival […]

Miami Beach Comes To London

The only umbrella in sight will be the one in your cocktail Each year the Backyard Cinema team come up with a new concept for their pop up cinema, and this summer they bought Miami Beach all the way to South London. Over a short few months, the team host a series of films in a themed setting. Previous events have taken me to the cobbled streets of Camden (add photo) for their Camden Film Festival in 2015, to a central London church in Baker Street for a special screening of Romeo & Juliet in 2016. This summer the team […]

The Lost Jungle Adventure Golf

Every time I visit my folks, I pass by the A41 where it merges with the M1 (this is road talk for anyone who is not familiar with North West London btw). I’ve noticed over a long period of time that someone has been redeveloping a large plot of land. We couldn’t quite figure out what they were building until a giant dinosaur appeared with the wording The Lost Jungle. Slowly, as the site was built we saw there was an adventure golf course being made. This was brilliant! I love crazy golf and mini golf, so couldn’t wait for […]

Reaching The Summit Of Mount Snowdon

Wales has been on my bucket list for a while, so this bank holiday weekend we packed up the car and went on a road trip to Snowdonia National Park. With a huge choice of outdoorsy things to do, it’s difficult to know where to begin. From mountain biking to hiking, zip lining to sailing the lakes, and of course, climbing Mount Snowdon! Towering high at an impressive 3560 ft (1085 m) tall, Mount Snowdon is the tallest mountain in England and Wales, and for some reason I casually suggested that we should go climb it. And so we did. […]

A Banquet At Toad Hall

As a child of the 80’s, I fondly remember Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in The Willows novel which follows the adventures of the mischievous Mr Toad and his pals Ratty, Badger and Mole. I can easily recall my mother reading me the story before bed, and I can even picture the specific movie clip of Mr Toad zooming along in his stolen motor car as he bounced up and down the road giggling like a mad man. The Wind in The Willows was definitely one of my fondest childhood memories, so I was elated to come across a supper club in […]

Road Trip To Norfolk

I have many friends who are from Norfolk, grew up in Norfolk, or still have family in Norfolk, and it’s become one of those places I’ve wanted to visit for a long time. With over 90 miles of coastline including unspoilt beaches, countryside, national parks, and several quaint villages in between, it’s a wonder I’ve not been before. What To Do I don’t know where to start, but to truly enjoy Norfolk you must be a fan of the great outdoors! You’ll be spoilt for choice, from where to walk the dog, which bike trails to follow, which hiking paths […]

Havana Rum Masterclass

If you know me well enough then you’d know how much I love my rum. I’ll always go for a rum punch over any other cocktail, and after visiting Cuba a few years ago, my love for rum was firmly cemented. Adam and I have a small collection of 15 different rums at home, as we love trying something new. I’m not entirely sure how I managed to wangle this, but somehow I ended up on a mailing list for London based, Cottons Rum Shack (Salon de Rhum), and through them I was invited to join a Havana Rum Masterclass. […]

A Little Piece Of Devon

As someone who travels often, I rarely choose a UK based get-away and I’ll be the first to admit that I am guilty of not knowing my own country half as well as I should! Sure I’ve visited most of the big cities (Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool), and several smaller towns (Bath, Brighton, Cambridge), but it’s the traditional English villages that I really haven’t learnt to appreciate just yet. With plenty of coastal and inland towns such as York, Oxford or Norwich – all of which are within a 2-hour commute from London by train – why are we not making […]

My Instagram 7 Day Beach Photo Challenge

In case anyone isn’t on Instagram (how is that possible?), or doesn’t follow my Instagram account yet (please add me – I need to get my followers up!), I wanted to share a challenge I set myself last week. For a little bit of fun, I thought I’d set myself a week long challenge on Instagram with only one rule – each day I was to upload a photo of a different beach I had visited. My aim was to collate a short collection of snaps to share some of my favourite memories with you. All photos are my own images and […]
